Wataya Besso

Located in Ureshino Onsen in Ureshino City, western Saga Prefecture, Wataya Besso sits within walking distance of the Ureshino River and the town's cluster of hot-spring ryokan, roughly a 20-minute drive from Takeo Onsen Station and about 90 minutes from Fukuoka by highway bus. The property occupies a modern reinterpretation of a traditional Japanese villa complex, built around a series of detached and semi-detached suites set among a landscaped Japanese garden, giving the ryokan a secluded, private-retreat atmosphere favored by couples and special-occasion travelers. Accommodation is split between Japanese-style suites with tatami sleeping areas, garden-view rooms, and standalone private villas, several of which include their own open-air rotenburo fed by the mineral-rich Ureshino spring water, prized in Japan for its 'bihada no yu' (beautiful skin) reputation. Dinner is served as a multi-course kaiseki meal featuring seasonal Saga produce, Ureshino green tea used in several courses, and Genkai Sea seafood, typically taken in-room or in a private dining alcove; breakfast follows a similar traditional format with grilled fish, rice, and pickles.
