The Kashima City Tourism Association (0954-62-3942) organizes the Hizen Hamashuku sake brewery street walking tour along Sakagura-dori in the historic Hamamachi district of Kashima, a preserved merchant street lined with Edo- and Meiji-era sake brewery buildings. The roughly two-hour route passes three established breweries, Fukuchiyo, Minematsu, and Sachihime, with a self-guided tasting format available year-round and a dedicated Sake Brewery Tourism event held each March that adds guided commentary. The walk covers the three brewery stops plus the historic street itself, with an all-you-can-taste sake course drawn from the breweries' offerings rather than food dishes; savoury pairing snacks are occasionally available at brewery counters but are not a formal part of the tour. The ¥1,000–1,500 price includes the tasting course and a souvenir sake bottle; meals, additional bottle purchases, and transport to Kashima are not included. Group sizes during the March event are larger, often several dozen participants moving between breweries, while self-guided tastings outside that period can be done individually or in small groups at each brewery's own pace. Commentary during the March event is primarily in Japanese with limited English support; self-guided visits rely on posted information and brewery staff, who can occasionally provide basic English explanations.
