At over 1,400 m Capracotta is one of the highest and snowiest villages in the Apennines — famous for record snowfalls — offering pristine winter scenes of the village and the Prato Gentile plateau. In summer the nearby Giardino della Flora Appenninica botanical garden bursts with Apennine wildflowers for close-up and macro work.
