Saepinum, known today as Altilia, preserves its full Roman town plan: gated walls with four monumental gates, the colonnaded forum, basilica, theatre, baths, the cardo and decumanus, and shops, all set among quiet farmland. A later village grew within the ruins, blending farmhouses with ancient columns. It is one of the few major Roman sites where visitors can wander freely amid an almost intact townscape.
