Built on earlier fortifications, the castle was reshaped by the Pandone family. Its most extraordinary feature is a series of life-size 16th-century frescoes depicting the prized horses of Count Enrico Pandone, each named and dated — a rare and charming record of Renaissance horse-breeding. The castle now houses the Museo Nazionale del Molise art collection.
