The castle dominates the tiny hilltop village of Civitacampomarano, with cylindrical and square towers and a moat, built up by the Di Sangro family in the 15th century on Norman foundations. The village, partly depopulated, has been revived by the CVTà Street Fest, which has covered its old houses in acclaimed murals, creating a memorable blend of medieval stone and contemporary art.
