A walkable section of the great Castel di Sangro–Lucera royal drove road, one of the five historic tratturi used for centuries to move sheep between the mountains of Abruzzo and the plains of Puglia. The Pescolanciano stretch is among the best-preserved, running on grassy tratturo tracks through the rolling pastoral landscape of the Collemeluccio-Montedimezzo biosphere, past field chapels and old sheep folds.
