An easy and beautiful circuit of the Lago del Matese, the highest karst lake in the southern Apennines at around 1,000 m, ringed by the peaks of Monte Miletto, La Gallinola and Monte Mutria. The level shoreline path passes wet meadows rich in orchids and birdlife and gives constant views of the surrounding mountain wall — an ideal gentle day in the Matese.
