A gentle loop of great natural and historic interest below the dramatic wall of the Mainarde mountains. Starting at the medieval Abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno, the route follows the Volturno river to the turquoise reservoir of Castel San Vincenzo, circles its shore with continuous views of the peaks, and returns to the abbey. Ideal as a half-day introduction to the Molise side of the national park.
