Larino & the Lower Biferno Borghi

  • TransportCar (about 30 min from Termoli) or regional train to Larino

Larino is a handsome town of two halves — an upper medieval borgo with a Romanesque cathedral and a lower town beside the remains of the Roman city, including a well-preserved amphitheatre and mosaic floors. It sits among the olive groves of the lower Biferno valley that produce the prized Gentile di Larino DOP oil, making a relaxed day of Roman ruins, an old town stroll and an olive-oil tasting.
