Gargano & Vieste (Puglia)

  • TransportCar essential (about 1 hr 20 min to the Gargano, longer to Vieste)

The Gargano promontory — the 'spur' of Italy's boot — is one of the south's most beautiful coasts, an easy drive south from Termoli into Puglia. White cliffs, sea stacks and turquoise coves line the route around to Vieste, with the Foresta Umbra beech forest inland and the pilgrimage town of Monte Sant'Angelo above. A full day allows a coastal drive, a clifftop town and a swim in a hidden cove.
