Excelsior Hotel Gallia stands directly opposite Milano Centrale railway station on Piazza Duca d'Aosta, an Art Deco landmark that opened in 1932 and reopened in 2015 following a full restoration led by architect Marco Piva. The renovation preserved the original stone facade and grand staircase while adding a steel-and-glass rooftop tower that now houses the hotel's signature restaurant and terrace.
