Best Time to Visit

Months to Avoid

July-August for Amalfi Coast crowds and heat; November-February for beach visits

July and August bring extreme congestion on the Amalfi Coast road, temperatures over 30°C, and peak prices. Many Amalfi Coast restaurants and hotels close November-February.

Climate Overview

Campania has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. Coastal areas benefit from sea breezes that moderate summer heat. The mountains inland (such as the Apennines that edge the region) receive more rainfall and occasional snow in winter. The Amalfi Coast and Gulf of Naples islands enjoy some of the mildest winters in Italy.
