Rossellinis, Palazzo Avino

Rossellinis is the Michelin-starred restaurant of Palazzo Avino in Ravello, perched on a broad terrace carved into the cliff 350 metres above the Tyrrhenian Sea with what is arguably the most spectacular dining view on the entire Amalfi Coast. The restaurant takes its name from the filmmaker Roberto Rossellini, whose family has ties to Ravello, and the setting — draped in bougainvillea, looking out over terracotta rooftops to the deep blue sea far below — is the kind of backdrop that renders every dish more memorable than it might otherwise be. Chef Pino Lavarra, who held two Michelin stars at his previous position in Puglia, leads a kitchen focused on refined Campanian cuisine: local seafood and vegetables elevated by classical French technique and presented with the understated elegance appropriate to a five-star hotel restaurant. The 'Journey through Campania' tasting menu is the most ambitious offering, moving through a sequence of courses that reference the region's agricultural diversity — from the volcanic soils of Vesuvius to the fishing villages of the coast. Linguine with sea urchin, locally caught in the waters below, is a signature. The wine programme is strong on Campanian producers, with excellent selections of Greco di Tufo and Fiano d'Avellino alongside international bottles.
