Caffè Syrenuse, Positano

Caffè Syrenuse is Positano's most popular café for breakfast and morning coffee, positioned on the upper part of Via Cristoforo Colombo with tables that look directly onto the church of Santa Maria Assunta and the colourful ceramic-tiled dome that is the most photographed element of the village's skyline. The café takes its name from the Sirenuse — the small islands off Positano's coast that in ancient tradition were associated with the Sirens of Greek mythology, whose song lured sailors to destruction. The setting is quintessentially Positano: whitewashed walls, flowering plants, tiled surfaces, and the layered drama of the village's terraced houses cascading down to the sea. The breakfast offering follows the Italian café tradition: fresh cornetti with various fillings (including the region's sfusato lemon cream), plain or chocolate, alongside espresso, cappuccino, and fresh-squeezed orange and lemon juice. The granita al limone — made with Amalfi Coast lemons — is a standout mid-morning option on hot days, intensely cold and sharply aromatic. The café operates throughout the day, serving aperitivo in the late afternoon. Positano is one of the most visited villages on the Amalfi Coast and the café becomes busy quickly after the first hydrofoils and buses bring the morning wave of visitors; arriving early rewards with calmer service and the village before the crowds.
