Agriturismo Il Bergamotto is a working farm stay located in Contrada Fondachelli near Brancaleone, in the southern section of the Province of Reggio Calabria. Brancaleone sits on the Ionian coast of Calabria, approximately 100 kilometres north of Reggio Calabria along the SS106 coastal road. The surrounding territory is one of the few places in the world where bergamot citrus — the aromatic fruit whose essential oil flavours Earl Grey tea and forms the base of many luxury perfumes — is cultivated on a commercially significant scale. This narrow coastal strip between the Aspromonte mountains and the Ionian shore enjoys a microclimate considered uniquely suited to bergamot production, giving the area a distinctive agricultural and sensory identity. The agriturismo is centred on a working bergamot grove, and guests can participate in guided tours covering the cultivation methods, seasonal harvest, and the essential oil extraction process that gives Calabrian bergamot its international reputation. Accommodation spans double rooms, a suite, and self-contained apartment units, all simply but characterfully furnished in keeping with the rural agriturismo tradition.
