Europe's highest accessible sea cliffs at 601 meters dwarf the famous Cliffs of Moher. The walk along the ridge with the Atlantic crashing far below is both exhilarating and terrifying in equal measure.
Slieve League is reached via the small village of Teelin in County Donegal, with a car park at Bunglass roughly 5km up a narrow mountain road from the village; parking is free and no permit is required. The walk from the Bunglass viewpoint along the ridge to One Man's Pass and back covers about 7km with roughly 595m of cumulative elevation change, taking around three hours. The path starts on a reasonably graded gravel and grass track but narrows considerably at One Man's Pass, a section of exposed ridge with steep drops on both sides where the trail surface becomes bare rock; this section should be avoided in high wind or wet conditions. There is no shade anywhere along the route. Landmarks include the Eagle's Nest viewpoint below Bunglass, the sea stacks and coloured rock strata of the cliff face itself, which at 601m are among the highest sea cliffs in Europe, and views extending to Rathlin O'Birne Island and, on clear days, as far as Sliabh Liag's summit cairn.
