Mertasari Beach, or Pantai Mertasari, lies on Jl. Mertasari in Sanur Kauh, Denpasar Selatan, at the quieter southern end of the Sanur shoreline in Bali, Indonesia. The beach faces east across the Badung Strait, so sunrise rises over open water, and the frame combines a wide sandy beach, shallow tide flats, fishing boats and, in the right season, kites in the sky. The southern end is less developed than central Sanur, giving cleaner horizons and fewer buildings in the frame.

The southern end is less developed than central Sanur, giving cleaner horizons and fewer buildings in the frame. Sunrise light is warm and low, side-lighting boats and flyers on the sand, while the shallows reflect colour at low tide. Kite season from July to September, when steady winds bring local kite flyers to the beach, gives the most colour and movement, and a telephoto lens isolates the kites against the dawn sky while a wide-angle captures the whole scene. Outside kite season, the beach remains attractive for boats and calm water, and the dry season from May to September offers the clearest skies. The beach is usually quieter than Sanur's main stretch, so tripod positions are rarely contested, although kite events and weekends bring more people. Tripods are not restricted on the public beach. Fishermen work in the shallows at dawn, so photographers should keep clear of nets and boats and ask before photographing people closely. No entry fee is usually charged for the open sand, though any parking charge should be confirmed locally. Drones are subject to Indonesian aviation rules, and flying near kites and crowds is hazardous. Warungs near the beach sell drinks and snacks, and restrooms are available but basic. Sun protection and water are advisable once the sun climbs.
