Nightlife in West Bengal

West Bengal Nightlife Guide 2026

The night-time map of West Bengal: where locals drink, where the music is, and what it costs.

West Bengal is an eastern Indian state stretching from the Himalayan foothills at Darjeeling to the mangrove delta of the Sundarbans. It combines the colonial heritage and literary culture of Kolkata with tea estates, terracotta temples, wildlife reserves and Bay of Bengal beaches.

West Bengal's nightlife is concentrated in Kolkata, where Park Street has been the entertainment spine since the mid-20th century, with live-music restaurants, old-school bars and a growing club scene. Elsewhere, evenings centre on adda at tea stalls, street food, evening aarti at the ghats and cultural performances. Darjeeling and Siliguri have a few hotel bars and pubs, but nightlife outside Kolkata is quiet.

Moderate in Kolkata, minimal elsewhere. Park Street, Camac Street, Salt Lake Sector V and the EM Bypass corridor hold most bars, pubs and clubs. Licensing rules limit closing hours: many venues wind down around midnight, with a few extended-licence clubs open until 2 AM on weekends.
