Goa's oldest surviving Hindu temple, Tambdi Surla is a 12th-century Kadamba-era shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, built from black basalt in the Hemadpanthi architectural style. Hidden deep in the forest of Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary, it escaped destruction by invaders and remains remarkably intact after 800 years.
