The site of all three Delhi Durbars — grand imperial assemblies held in 1877, 1903, and 1911. Here in 1911 King George V announced the transfer of the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. The park contains a granite obelisk marking the spot and a collection of displaced Raj-era statues (including a headless George V), moved here after independence.
