Day trip from Delhi, Delhi
Agra & the Taj Mahal
India's unmissable sight — the Taj Mahal is best seen at sunrise when the white marble turns pink and gold in the first light and crowds are smallest. The UNESCO World Heritage mausoleum built by Shah Jahan (1632–1653) is set in formal Mughal gardens with a central reflecting pool. Beyond the Taj, Agra Fort (another UNESCO site, 2.5km away) and the ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri (40km) extend a full-day itinerary. The fastest connection from Delhi is the Gatimaan Express (2h 10min, India's fastest train), making a comfortable day trip feasible.
