Gandhi Smriti, formerly known as Birla House, is the historic bungalow where Mahatma Gandhi spent the last 144 days of his life and was assassinated on January 30, 1948. The museum preserves his living quarters exactly as they were, with personal belongings, photographs, and the exact spot where he fell, marked by a Martyr's Column. The garden prayer ground where he held evening prayers is an emotionally powerful site.
