Skiathos is the most forested and most visited of the Sporades, reached from Volos by fast ferry. The draw is the coastline: over 60 beaches ring the island, from the organized sand of Koukounaries to boat-only coves, and the town itself is a working port with narrow lanes rather than a resort strip. It suits a day trip built around one or two beaches plus a walk through Skiathos Town, not an attempt to see the whole island.
