Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands in Greece's South Aegean, with Rhodes Town as its capital. Its UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town, the Lindos Acropolis and long Aegean beaches make it one of Greece's busiest summer destinations.
Rhodes nightlife splits into three scenes: quiet courtyard bars and Turkish coffee houses inside the medieval Old Town, the Orfanidou Street bar strip and Mandraki-front clubs in the New Town, and the high-volume Faliraki strip of Ermou (Bar Street) and Club Street. Rhodes Town bars fill from about 22:00 and run to 3:00-5:00 in summer, while Faliraki is busy from May to September and quiet in winter.
Bars fill from about 22:00 and clubs peak after midnight. English is widely spoken by staff. Faliraki has toned down compared with its past reputation but remains the island's main party strip; Rhodes Town is more varied and includes a recognised gay-friendly scene. Most seasonal venues close between late October and April.
