Gyros Spot is Argostoli's most reliably popular street food counter, positioned near Vallianou Square — the main public square at the heart of Kefalonia's capital — in the area where evening foot traffic from the waterfront, the restaurants, and the bars naturally converges. The operation runs from late morning through to the early hours, aligning its peak service with the late-night appetite that follows an evening out in Argostoli. Freshly carved pork and chicken gyros, shaved from upright vertical spits at the counter, form the core of the menu. Each pita wrap is assembled to order with tzatziki, tomatoes, red onion, and fried potatoes folded into a warm pita that holds together just long enough to eat comfortably. Souvlaki skewers — the alternative to the vertical spit — are also available for those who prefer the chargrilled cube preparation.
