Dassia Beach is a long, shallow beach of pebble and sand on the east coast of Corfu, Greece, about 12 km north of Corfu Town. The shoreline is backed by a belt of olive and cypress trees, which gives natural shade along parts of the seafront, and the water is calm, clear and gently shelving, with a mix of small pebbles and sand underfoot. Because the beach faces the channel between Corfu and the Albanian mainland, the sea is sheltered from the prevailing west wind and is usually flat, making it well suited to young children and relaxed swimmers. Dassia is a long, busy resort strip rather than a secluded cove, with hotels, apartments and shops along the main road and a more developed, package-holiday character than the west-coast beaches. The atmosphere is family oriented and relaxed in the daytime, with some bars and live music in the evenings. Sunbeds and umbrellas are available for hire, water sports such as pedalos, canoes and banana boats operate in season, and tavernas and bars line the waterfront. Showers and toilets are available at beach businesses. Lifeguard cover varies, so visitors should check on arrival. Access is easy. The blue KTEL urban bus runs from Corfu Town along the coast road, taking around 20 minutes, and taxis and rental cars are also practical. Roadside parking is available, though spaces fill in July and August. The beach is a short, level walk from the main road. The season runs from June to September. Mornings are quietest and the water is calmest, while the afternoon sun is strong, so the olive-tree shade is welcome. Nearby Ipsos, to the north, and the Dassia Bay hills are within easy reach, and Corfu Town can be visited on a half-day trip.
