Agiofarago Gorge, Heraklion
A walk down a dramatic limestone gorge to a hidden pebble beach on the Libyan Sea, passing hermit caves.
Agiofarago, the 'Gorge of the Saints', lies on the southern edge of the Messara region. The trail descends to a small pebble beach below white cliffs, passing caves once used by hermits and a tiny chapel of Agios Antonios. The path is rocky and exposed, so footwear matters, and the beach has no facilities.
