Trier - Porta Nigra and the Roman Heritage Sites

The best season for outdoor sites such as the amphitheatre and Roman Bridge runs April through October, though the indoor Imperial Baths, Aula Palatina and Porta Nigra interior are enjoyable year-round; arriving in the morning avoids midday tour-group crowds at Porta Nigra, the most-visited single site. Visitors continuing on to Luxembourg City can catch the direct 50-minute train onward in the afternoon.
