Kletterwald Hahnenklee Climbing Park

Kletterwald Hahnenklee is a forest high-ropes park in the Harz resort village of Hahnenklee, part of Goslar, with multiple courses of varying height and difficulty strung between spruce trees on the wooded hillside above the Sperbertal valley. The park suits a wide range of ages and abilities: shorter, low courses are designed for young children accompanied by an adult, while higher courses with longer zip lines and more technical obstacles are aimed at teenagers and adults with reasonable upper-body strength and no fear of heights. Climbing harnesses, helmets, and safety carabiners are provided by the park for every participant, and no personal climbing equipment is required; closed-toe shoes and clothing that allows free movement are recommended. Before climbing, every visitor receives a mandatory safety briefing and a supervised practice run on a ground-level training course to demonstrate the continuous-belay carabiner system used throughout the park, which keeps climbers clipped to a safety cable at all times so a fall cannot result in a drop to the ground. Trained ground staff patrol the course area and can talk climbers through any obstacle or, if necessary, assist a climber down using a rescue pulley. The park operates seasonally from April to October, when the trees are in leaf and the ground is dry underfoot; damp bark and wet platforms can make the higher courses slippery, so a dry day is best. Weekday mornings tend to be quieter than school-holiday afternoons, when family groups and youth groups can create queues at the more popular obstacles and zip lines.
