The terrace of the Tour du Suquet and the Place de la Castre give the classic elevated view of Cannes: the Old Port with its yachts, the curve of the Croisette, the Palais des Festivals and the Lérins Islands beyond. The view faces south and south-west, so late afternoon brings warm side light on the harbour and the rooftops of the old town. Sunset falls over the Esterel to the west, and colour lingers for 20 minutes afterwards. Clear air is best from October to April, while summer haze flattens the view. The climb from the Old Port takes about 10 minutes on cobbled lanes, and the terrace is free to enter while the tower ticket is separate. Tripods are tolerated on the open square when they do not block walkways.
