The Saziley Peninsula marks the wild southern tip of Grande-Terre in the commune of Bouéni, Mayotte. It is one of the least developed stretches of the island, a landscape of scrub, coastal forest, rocky headlands and empty beaches, with no shops or services.

Saziley is the wild, undeveloped tip of southern Mayotte, reached on foot across scrubby coastal terrain since no paved road runs all the way in. The viewpoint looks out over the lagoon's barrier reef and a string of empty beaches where green turtles come ashore to nest. It's one of the few spots on the island where you won't see another building in any direction.

The Saziley Peninsula marks the wild southern tip of Grande-Terre in the commune of Bouéni, Mayotte. It is one of the least developed stretches of the island, a landscape of scrub, coastal forest, rocky headlands and empty beaches, with no shops or services. The peninsula is reached by taxi-be from Mamoudzou to Bouéni, a journey of about 45 minutes costing roughly 4 euros, followed by a walk of around 30 minutes to reach the peninsula, since no paved road runs the whole way. The main draw is the viewpoint, which looks out over the lagoon, the barrier reef and a string of beaches where green turtles come ashore to nest, mainly after dark in the warmer months. A visit usually takes two to four hours, including the walk in and out. Sunset is popular, with the best light between about 16:00 and 18:30, but hikers should plan the return before dark, since there is no lighting and the walk crosses uneven ground. Morning is cooler and quieter, and many visitors prefer to go earlier in the day. Photographers can capture the reef edge, the contrasting blue lagoon and open ocean, and the empty sweep of coast from the headland. Crowds are minimal; it is rare to meet more than a few other walkers. There is almost no shade, so water, a hat, sun protection and sturdy shoes are essential. Visitors should not disturb nesting turtles or their tracks, and night visits should be done with a local guide.
