La Caserne Chanzy is a four-star hotel established within a remarkably converted 19th-century military barracks on rue Chanzy in central Reims, in the heart of France's most celebrated champagne-producing region in the Grand Est. The adaptive reuse project preserved the long colonnaded façade, interior parade ground—now a landscaped courtyard—and regimental brick and limestone architecture while installing contemporary interiors that blend industrial heritage with Champagne country elegance. The 74 rooms and suites feature exposed brick or stone walls, bespoke timber furniture, and soft colour palettes drawn from the surrounding chalk landscape of the Montagne de Reims. A dedicated champagne bar showcases bottles from both the grande marques and smaller grower-producers (récoltants-manipulants) largely inaccessible outside the region. The ground-floor restaurant interprets Marne brasserie classics—potée champenoise and local farmhouse cheeses—alongside vegetarian menus. Meeting rooms in the former officers' wing accommodate business groups. The hotel lies within a fifteen-minute walk of Reims Cathedral and a ten-minute walk of the TGV station offering fast trains to Paris Est. The champagne cellars of Taittinger, Mumm, and Pommery are reachable in under fifteen minutes by car, and the concierge arranges private cellar visits.
