Spa at Château de Marçay

The Spa at Château de Marçay is housed within a 15th-century fortified manor house at 37500 Marçay, set in the Chinon appellation wine country of western Indre-et-Loire, roughly seven kilometres south of the town of Chinon. The property's thick tuffeau stone walls and corner towers give the spa setting a medieval intimacy: treatment rooms are located within the château's original domestic wing and retain exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and original tile floors. The flagship treatment is the Chinon red wine vinothérapie, which employs polyphenol extracts derived from Cabernet Franc grapes grown in the Chinon AOC surrounding the estate — one of the Loire's most celebrated and food-friendly wine varietals. The vinothérapie combines an exfoliating grape-seed scrub with a hydrating grape marc wrap and a massage using Cabernet Franc-infused oil, running for 90 minutes in total. The relaxation massage is performed in a 60-minute protocol using locally sourced lavender and walnut oil from the Indre-et-Loire countryside, and the facial with Touraine plant extracts uses a proprietary blend of wild rose, linden blossom, and oat from the estate garden. The body wrap is offered as a standalone 45-minute treatment or as a concluding step after the vinothérapie sequence. Reflexology sessions are available on request and are particularly popular among guests who have spent extended time walking the Chinon wine trails. Facilities include two treatment rooms and a heated outdoor terrace pool open from April through October. There is no indoor pool or sauna on the premises. Therapists hold national massage therapy diplomas and receive supplementary training in the vinothérapie method each spring. Opening hours are daily 10:00 to 18:00. Prices range from €65 for a standalone 60-minute massage to €140 for the full vinothérapie and wrap ritual.
