Grande Plage de Carnac extends for 2.5 kilometres along the southern coast of Carnac-Plage in Morbihan, facing south towards the Gulf of Morbihan with the island of Belle-Île occasionally visible on clear days. The sand is soft, fine, and creamy-white, and the beach shelves gently into calm, relatively warm water that regularly reaches 20°C in July and August — warm by Breton standards — thanks to the beach's southern exposure and the moderating influence of the gulf. The seafront is backed by the Avenue de l'Atlantique promenade, lined with crêperies, ice cream vendors, and several brasseries. A sailing school operates from the eastern end of the beach and rents watersports equipment including kayaks and paddleboards. Sunlounger and parasol hire is available from June onwards. Lifeguards are posted in July and August and the beach holds a Blue Flag designation.
