Chunxi Road Pedestrian Street

Chunxi Road in Jinjiang District is Chengdu's oldest and busiest commercial street, dating back nearly a century and now anchored by IFS and Taikoo Li at its eastern end. The street mixes mass-market and mid-range retail with flagship stores from international sportswear, cosmetics, and fashion brands, plus multi-level department stores such as Chengdu Ito Yokado-style malls and local chains. Goods sold are overwhelmingly authentic branded merchandise sold at fixed prices in department-store and flagship-store settings, so bargaining is not customary here, unlike a traditional market; payment is almost entirely by mobile wallet (Alipay/WeChat Pay) or card, with cash accepted but less convenient. Tax-refund counters for eligible international visitors exist inside larger department stores, requiring passport and minimum-spend receipts. The street is pedestrianized and crowded from late morning through evening, especially weekends, with street performers, pop-up promotions, and a dense cluster of Sichuan snack stalls and chain restaurants feeding into the surrounding lanes. The must-visit corners are the junction near the Sun Wukong-style bronze statue, the underground shopping arcade beneath the street, and the connecting lanes toward Yanshikou for cheaper youth fashion.
