Top Adventure Experiences
The most exciting activities Sichuan has to offer.
Minya Konka (Gongga Mountain) Base Camp Trek
A multi-day trekking expedition to the base camp of Sichuan's highest peak — Minya Konka at 7,556m. The circuit through Moxi Valley, glacial moraines, and alpine meadows rewards with some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in all of China. Guide mandatory.
Siguniang Mountain Multi-Valley Trek
A full-day trekking experience through the Changping Valley — the most demanding of Siguniang's three valleys — reaching high alpine terrain at 4,000m+ with panoramic views of all four snow peaks. Horses available for portions of the route.
Min River White-Water Rafting
Exhilarating half-day white-water rafting on the upper Min River through scenic gorges near Dujiangyan and Wenchuan. Rapids range from Class II to Class IV depending on seasonal water levels. The historical significance of the river (source of the Dujiangyan system) adds cultural context.
Rock Climbing at Qingcheng Mountain
Sport climbing on granite faces in the Qingcheng Mountain area near Dujiangyan, with routes suitable for beginners and intermediate climbers. Routes are well-bolted and the natural mountain forest setting makes this a scenic alternative to gym climbing.
Mountain Biking — Kangding to Tagong
A legendary cycling route through western Sichuan's dramatic highland landscape from Kangding (2,560m) through high mountain passes to Tagong Grasslands. The Sichuan-Tibet Highway (G318) section offers extraordinary scenery through yak country and Tibetan villages. Strong fitness and cold-weather gear essential.
Via Ferrata at Hailuogou
A spectacular via ferrata (iron route) climbing system installed on the cliff faces above Hailuogou Glacier, combining rock climbing ladders and cables with stunning glacier and Gongga Mountain views. No prior climbing experience needed with proper instruction.
Paragliding over Luding Gorge
Tandem paragliding from cliffs above the Dadu River gorge near Luding, offering bird's-eye views of the historic Luding Bridge and dramatic canyon scenery. No experience necessary — fly with a qualified instructor.
Horseback Riding on Tagong Grasslands
Ride Tibetan horses across the vast 3,700m highland meadows of Tagong with local nomadic guides, exploring yak herding camps, prayer flag ridgelines, and panoramic views of Yala Snow Mountain. A completely authentic western Sichuan highland experience.
Canyon Ziplining — Shunan Bamboo Sea
High-speed ziplines over the bamboo canopy at Shunan Bamboo Sea in southern Sichuan — fly above a sea of bamboo with 360° green views and the sound of rustling bamboo below. Multiple lines of varying length and height available.
Ice Climbing at Dagu Glacier
Technical ice climbing on the frozen edges of the Dagu Glacier at 4,860m — one of the highest-altitude climbing experiences in Sichuan. Crampons, ice axes, and helmets provided. The extreme altitude makes even moderate physical activity demanding.
