Yuantouzhu Scenic Area occupies a peninsula on the northern shore of Taihu (Lake Tai) in the Binhu District of Wuxi, Jiangsu, and it is one of the region's best-known places for cherry blossom photography. The frame combines pink blossom-laden branches with the open water of the lake behind, and photographers can shoot along the shoreline paths, through arching branches, or from bridges and pavilions that offer a broader view of the water. Sunrise and late afternoon provide warm, low side light that flatters both the blossom and the lake surface, and Taihu sunsets can produce wide, colourful skies. Mornings during the bloom are especially popular because petals are fresh and the light is soft. The blossom season runs from late March to mid-April, with the exact peak shifting from year to year, so checking bloom reports shortly before travelling is worthwhile. Outside the bloom, the peninsula still offers lake views and gardens, though it is much less distinctive. During the blossom period the park is one of the busiest places in Wuxi, with heavy crowds at weekends, and popular tree-lined paths can be slow-moving; arriving at opening on a weekday is the best way to find clean frames and a free spot for a camera. The park is ticketed, and visitors should confirm the current entry price and any seasonal blossom surcharges at the gate. Tripods are workable on quieter shoreline stretches but may obstruct busy paths, so it is best to choose open spots and move promptly. Drones are generally restricted around scenic areas and crowds and should not be flown without permission. The area is spacious and largely flat, with restrooms, refreshment stalls and drinking water available at several points inside the park.
