Fujian is a coastal province in southeast China facing Taiwan, known for the UNESCO tulou earthen buildings, Gulangyu island, Quanzhou's Maritime Silk Road heritage and the Wuyi Mountains.
Fujian has a humid subtropical climate: mild winters (coastal Fuzhou and Xiamen about 10-16°C in January), hot humid summers (28-34°C), a wet 'plum rain' season in May-June, and a typhoon season from July to September that peaks in August. Inland Wuyishan and the Tulou highlands are cooler and wetter. Autumn (October-November) is the most reliable season.
