The crowd is overwhelmingly tourist-heavy, drawn by the complex's famous nighttime lighting, and ranges widely in age; dress is entirely casual and there is no dress code across the strip. Individual bars vary, but most play background pop and recorded music rather than live sets, keeping the focus on the view and the atmosphere of the lit-up complex rather than on a dance floor. Drinks are affordable, with beer and simple mixed drinks priced from about CNY 20-60, reflecting the casual, tourist-oriented nature of the strip rather than a craft-cocktail focus. The bars operate daily into the late evening, and the street is busiest after dark when the stilt-house facade is fully lit, with weekend evenings and holidays drawing the largest crowds and longest waits for river-view seating.
