Eling Park

Eling Park occupies a hilltop in Yuzhong District, Chongqing, at one of the highest points in the district's downtown core, giving it commanding views over the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers below. Visitors enter from E'ling Main Street and follow paved paths past pavilions, ornamental gardens, small ponds and a scattering of tea stalls shaded by old trees, climbing gradually toward the summit viewing terraces. The park mixes classical Chinese garden landscaping, including rockeries and covered walkways, with open lawns and several elevated platforms built specifically for taking in the panorama of Chongqing's downtown skyline against the two rivers. A visit typically takes one to just over an hour, enough to walk the main paths and pause at two or three viewpoints; those stopping for tea at one of the park's pavilions may stay longer. The clearest photo angle is from the park's uppermost terrace, which frames both rivers and the skyscrapers of Yuzhong peninsula in a single view. The park is quietest in the mornings and busiest in the late afternoon and early evening, when local residents come to exercise, socialize and watch the skyline change as the light fades and city lights begin to switch on, making late afternoon the best balance of good light and manageable crowds.
