Parque Villa-Lobos

Parque Villa-Lobos stretches along the Pinheiros River in the Alto de Pinheiros district, one of the largest parks in São Paulo and a favorite of cyclists, runners and families thanks to its wide paved circuit, sports courts, an outdoor amphitheater and open lawns shaded by mature trees. The park's flat, well-maintained loop trail is close to eight kilometers and forms one of the city's most popular running and cycling routes, with bicycle rental stands near the main gates on weekends. Beyond the loop, the park has a skate area, playgrounds, an orchidarium and space for pickup soccer and volleyball games on the grass. A short visit of ninety minutes covers a walk or bike ride around part of the loop and the riverside lawns, while a full circuit with stops takes closer to two and a half hours. Weekend mornings are by far the busiest time, when the park fills with joggers, cyclists and picnicking families and food carts set up near the main entrances; weekday visits, particularly in the early morning, are much quieter. The best photo opportunities come from the riverside stretch of the loop trail, where open sightlines along the Pinheiros River catch good light in the late afternoon.
