Campos do Jordão Alpine Village Landscapes

Campos do Jordão is a mountain town in São Paulo state's Serra da Mantiqueira range, its Alpine-styled Vila Capivari district and the Morro do Elefante viewpoint offering layered views over pine-forested slopes and valley fog. From Morro do Elefante, reached by cable car or a signed hiking trail, the frame captures ridgelines of pine forest receding into the distance, often with a temperature-inversion fog layer filling the valleys below on cold mornings. Winter months, May through August, bring the town's coldest, clearest air and the best chance of the valley fog that defines the classic shot, alongside the town's Alpine-chalet architecture in Vila Capivari for a more intimate street scene. Morning is the strongest window, arriving at the viewpoint shortly after sunrise before the fog burns off and before midday visitor numbers build, since Morro do Elefante is a popular weekend destination that can see long queues for the cable car by late morning. The cable car (teleférico) to the summit charges an entry fee, while the alternative hiking trail is free but adds significant time and a moderate uphill effort. Tripods are permitted at the viewing platform outside of the most crowded weekend midday hours; drones require caution and should avoid the cable car line and dense pine forest below.
