Accommodation runs from dormitory bunk beds in mixed rooms to private rooms with or without en-suite bathrooms, covering the range of budgets and privacy preferences common among backpackers and independent travellers. The compound centres on a swimming pool and outdoor bar, both consistently in use during the middle of the day when guests return from morning activities. Evenings at the bar are sociable — travellers share route notes on crossing into Botswana at Kazungula or into Zimbabwe at the Victoria Falls bridge, and the atmosphere is relaxed rather than loud. Camping is permitted in a designated part of the compound with access to shared ablutions and the bar. The in-house activity booking service is one of Fawlty Towers' main practical draws.
