Yemen has diverse climates ranging from hot coastal desert along the Red Sea and Arabian Sea coasts to cool highland temperatures in Sana'a (sitting at 2,300m elevation) where winters can be cold. Socotra Island has a unique tropical monsoon climate with the Indian Ocean monsoon closing the island June-September. The best time to visit is November to April when highlands are mild and Socotra is accessible.
