The island's biological isolation over millions of years has produced an ecosystem found nowhere else on earth — roughly a third of Socotra's plant species are endemic, including the instantly recognisable dragon blood tree (Dracaena cinnabari), whose umbrella-shaped canopy and blood-red resin have made it the symbol of the island.
Guests are accommodated in equipped tent camps established at rotating sites that follow the island's ecological highlights: the dragon blood tree forests of the Homhil and Dixam plateau, the white sand and turquoise waters of Detwah Lagoon (a protected marine area), the limestone caves of Hoq in the eastern highlands, and beach camps along the north coast. Tents, sleeping equipment, and ground mats are provided; bathroom facilities at camp are basic but functional, typically consisting of separate toilet and washing tents. All meals are included — three times daily, prepared by the camp cook from local fish, rice, flatbread, and vegetables.
Professional Socotri guides lead each group, covering wildlife identification, terrain navigation, and cultural context about the island's unique population and their distinct southern Arabian dialect. Vehicle transportation between sites is provided as part of the package — essential given the island's limited road network.
