In the evening it becomes the city's default gathering spot: children ride battery-powered cars and bikes rented by the hour, street performers and skateboarders use the open pavement, and the Nguyen Hue skybridge crossing photographs well against the surrounding towers. During Tet (Lunar New Year), the boulevard hosts the city's flagship flower street festival, drawing enormous crowds. The People's Committee Building at its northern end, a French colonial structure illuminated at night, is one of the most photographed government buildings in the country though it is not open to the public.
