FITO Museum (Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine)

Privately founded and spread across five wooden-carved floors built in traditional Vietnamese architectural styles from different regions and eras, the FITO Museum houses an extensive collection of tools, cabinets, and materials used in traditional Vietnamese herbal medicine over the past several centuries. Guided tours (included with admission) walk visitors through displays of drying racks, mortar-and-pestle sets, an apothecary counter with hundreds of labeled herb drawers, and pharmacist tools imported from China and used regionally. The visit ends with a tasting of Vietnamese herbal tea in a recreated traditional pharmacy setting. Though less famous than the city's war-era sites, it is consistently well-reviewed for its intimate scale, knowledgeable guides, and the craftsmanship of the wooden building itself, which was assembled using traditional joinery techniques without modern fasteners.
