Posada Turística Doña Rosa is a family-operated guesthouse on Calle Miranda in the colonial centre of Choroní, a fishing village on Venezuela's Caribbean coast in Aragua State. The posada is approximately 600 metres from Puerto Colombia beach, the main beach serving the village, and within a five-minute walk of Choroní's 17th-century parish church and the small central plaza. Henri Pittier National Park, Venezuela's oldest and one of its most biodiverse protected areas, begins at the village edge and includes hiking trails accessible on foot or by local transport.
The property occupies a single-storey vernacular house with thick whitewashed walls, painted wooden shutters, and a shaded interior courtyard that dates to the early 20th century when Choroní was an active cacao-producing community. The construction is typical of rural Aragua coastal building traditions: low ceilings designed to retain cool air, thick masonry walls for thermal mass, and external spaces integrated into daily life. Doña Rosa — the founding host — established the posada more than two decades ago and the establishment remains entirely family-run, with two generations actively involved in daily operations.
Rooms are furnished simply with single or double beds, ceiling fans, mosquito nets, and private bathrooms with cold-water showers. There are no televisions. Home-cooked Venezuelan meals are available with advance notice: typical offerings include fresh fish soup, tostones, rice and beans, and tropical fruit from the surrounding garden. Breakfasts can be arranged each morning and include arepas, local cheeses, and fresh fruit. The family provides practical guidance on beach access, licensed boat hire, hiking routes in Henri Pittier, the seasonal cacao harvest itinerary, and local transport to isolated beaches east of Puerto Colombia. A shaded patio with hammocks serves as the main relaxation area.
