A 2.2 km canal with pedestrian paths, bridges and the Eternal City ethno-park.
The Rowing Canal is a 2.2 km competition canal, built for the 2024 World Rowing and Canoe championships, in the centre of the Silk Road Samarkand complex east of Samarkand, Uzbekistan. It is a waterfront for walking and cycling rather than for swimming: no source found describes public swimming in the canal, so visitors should not swim here and should use the Waterland pools instead. Pedestrian and bicycle paths, parks and bridges ring the water, and two bridges lead to the Eternal City ethno-park, which has artisans, performers and restaurants. A runners' guide gives a loop of about 5.7 km and warns that it is exposed on hot days. Opening hours and any fees for the paths were not published, so check with the complex on +998 55 705 55 55. Evenings are pleasant in summer, with views of the water. Facilities are better than at any other water setting near Samarkand, but shade is limited, so carry water and a hat.
